A Simple Guide to Meal Plans

After a few hectic months, my routine is back on track. It has been busy work days, long commutes and cross-country meetings meaning at the end of the day I can only hear the calling of my bed more than the growling of my stomach. Once I’m home, I want to unwind watching Netflix or reading a book. So, I’ve structured my time and grocery shopping routine to allow for making efficient meals/meal prep for us during work days. This week I’m sharing my meal plan tips to ensure you look forward to a stress-free week with happy full tummies.

Check the weather  - My meals are always, weather friendly. Right now, I am making warm salad bowls and soups (or piping hot Masala puri ) to savor the last of the easy breezy season.

Find your recipes - I love experimenting and so I browse blogs and websites for recipes that look delicious. I even pile on cookbooks and call my mother for family recipes.

Keep a food journal - My journal right now varies between an excel sheet and chalkboard. I make a list of the meals and cuisines and try to switch it up every week. It is a good way to remember things I  cook and still love. Currently loving the Hebbars Kitchen app.

Pick a shopping day & stick to the list - The secret sauce to successful meal planning is to shop very purposefully. I look at recipes and make a shopping list. Oh, and my favorite app to make the list is Wunderlist.

Plan for leftover -  After many weeks of trial and error I have finally mastered the art of taking leftovers into account. My cooking does double duty dinner + next day lunch and there is always a small portion leftover for a snack ;)

Also, here is this week's journal. Would you like to see what I am cooking every week? Let me know so I can post some fun recipes and share my meal plans with you guys!
